Copyright 1996 InterAm Database National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade October 25, 1990 CHILE; ARGENTINA; BRAZIL; MEXICO; U.S.A.; VENEZUELA Cooperation agreements between Chile and Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, the U.S.A. and Venezuela TEXT: Chile recently concluded the following agreements: - for economic cooperation with Argentina (including bi-national enterprises, transportation, transit, energy cooperation. It will serve as a general basis for an agreement on economic cooperation to be signed within six months and a common marketby 31 December 1995); - for technical and scientific cooperation with Brazil. Also, a declaration was signed by the Presidents of both countries, promising to start negotiations for a broad agreement oneconomic cooperation; - for economic cooperation with Mexico, providing for the creation of bi- national and regional enterprises and free trade by 31 December 1995). By 1 June 1991 duties on reciprocal trade should not exceed a common maximum set below the current national levels (with a regional preference for Laia); - for commerce and investment with the U.S.A. (containing the basis for a free trade agreement); - for economic cooperation with Venezuela (including the bases for future agreements on trade liberalization, investments and the avoidance of double taxation).
